All Orange School District school buses have to pass the State Highway Patrol’s annual inspection. Most busses are equipped with mounts for GPS enabled phones for out of district trips and digital cameras to protect the staff, students and the district’s investments.

The amount of total distance traveled each school day is approximately 2,000 miles. In addition, each year our buses transport to approximately 1,129 field trips, including athletic events. These buses travel more than 42,000 miles. The total distance covered each school year transporting students to and from school and on field trips comes to approximately 400,000 miles.

The Orange Schools understand the importance of the safety of our students. Orange bus drivers are always working on general knowledge and safety skills.

Our bus drivers always do well in the annual regional and state road-e-o competitions often sending members to the national competition. This event is comprised of written tests and maneuverability events.

Our Transportation Team consists of:

  • 3 full time mechanics
  • 1 full time, 1 part time secretary
  • 1 supervisor
  • 10 substitute school bus drivers
  • 46 school bus drivers
  • 4 bus aides.
