A STANDARD BEARER AWARD WINNING DISTRICT

Impact on Learning Award The Orange High School Media Center received the Impact on Learning Award from Council of Educational Facility Planners. This award recognizes excellence in new and renovated educational projects across the country that enhance learning through innovative design, engineering and technology solutions. Through careful evaluation and thorough planning, Orange Schools renovated the space in order to provide students with a high-tech, state-of-the-art media center where they can research, gather and share information through a seamless environment.

Students born after 1982 are considered to be "digital natives." Orange is a high performance district, and this is a high performance space. The media center technology upgrades allow students greater access to study resources, interactive video distance learning (IVDL) and wireless capabilities in three labs. Furniture and lighting was placed to provide an enhanced study and workgroup environment that will better address the needs of the students in the 21st century. This center will provide students with a variety of learning opportunities for many years as a wireless, technology-rich center where students can connect to the outside world through two-way interactivity.
