Orange Bus Drivers Rule the Road-E-O Five Years In A Row!
For the fifth year in a row, Orange City School District bus drivers achieved top-notch results at the Regional Bus Driver Safety Road-E-O held this past Saturday. Orange teams took two of the top three spots including first place and third place, with three-peat State Champion Chuck SantaMaria once again securing a spot at the state individual competition to be held in Columbus later this month.
The Orange team comprised of SantaMaria, Shannon Gross, Deb Becker, and Deb Burns brought the first place trophy back home to Orange with the team of David Gordyan, Dale Hassing, Doreen Tausch and Bruce Bambrick placing third in this weekend's competition.
SantaMaria will compete against 53 other drivers from around the state, with Gross, also a top-competitor each year, serving as an alternate.
Every spring the Ohio Department of Education holds its regional and state-level School Bus Driver Safety Road-E-O, a competition designed to advance and showcase area drivers demonstrating their skills and knowledge of laws and safety issues. The Road-E-O is sponsored by Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Ohio Association for Pupil Transportation, Ohio Department of Education Transportation Section, Ohio Education Association, and Ohio School Bus Mechanics Association.
Congratulations to all of our bus drivers -- and good luck to Chuck and Shannon at the State Competition!
