Remembering Extraordinary OHS Teacher Alla Bogomolnaya
The Orange Schools Family mourns the passing of extraordinary Orange High School teacher Alla Bogomolnaya who made a difference in the lives of her students and all those who knew her.
Her dedication to the high school math department helped Orange earn the reputation as an outstanding school district and an award-winning standard bearer system. Her pride in her students and their achievements was evident in everything she did. Students and alumni alike adored her and are grateful to her for instilling in them the motivation to always reach for the moon.
Alla's daughter Ellen wrote a beautiful tribute to her mother as we saluted Alla Bogomolnaya and her Orange Story. You may read that story here.
Students in Mark Jones' class have edited a beautiful video memorial. You may view it here.
Our thoughts are with Alla's family and friends at this difficult time. She will be missed; but she will be remembered for touching the lives of so many people and etching her handprint on our hearts.
Alla died from a rare and very aggressive form of colon cancer called signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. There has never been a research study done on this type of cancer...until now. Her two children, Ellen & Eugene, are working in partnership with University Hospitals to raise money for research in signet ring cancers.
