OHS Alum Named Gates Cambridge Scholar
Congratulations to Orange High School Class of 2010 graduate Leah Weiss who was recently chosen as a 2013 Gates Cambridge Scholar. She will be attending Cambridge University in England next year to pursue a Master of Philosophy in Physics.
The Cambridge Gates Scholars program each year supports 40 graduating American college seniors to attend Cambridge University (UK) for graduate degrees in any field.
“My wife Carol and I are grateful to Leah's teachers at Orange who provided so much encouragement and such a good foundation,” stated Leah’s father Mike Weiss in a recent e-mail. “Because of the AP program at Orange, Leah will be graduating from Harvard in three years.”
“We are proud that she is doing so well and her talents and ability are recognized in such significant ways,” said Nancy Wingenbach, Superintendent of Orange Schools. “What a wonderful opportunity that resulted from hard work, great talent and strong intellect.”
