Destination Imagination Team Wins Second in State, 4th Trip to Globals
April 13, 2017
Congratulations to Brady Middle School's Destination ImagiNation Team Hedgehog Factory on winning second place at the State Competition and earning the opportunity to return to Knoxville, TN for the fourth time to take part in the Global Competition on May 24-27, 2017. The team members, comprised of eighth graders (clockwise from lower left) Lyla Berns, Abby Thompson, Clara Briskin, Jaden Polster, and Mason Lurie have competed together since the fourth grade.
Their Central Challenge is called "3-Peat" in which teams must create three improvisational skits from the same story prompt using different genres, stock characters and props. The team also competed in an instant challenge in which students must think creatively on their feet to solve a problem they are given.
Destination ImagiNation offers students the opportunity to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Students around the world work together to solve challenges that align with National Education Standards, STEM Standards, and ELA and Mathematics Common Core Standards. Teams from the United States are matched with an international team in a buddy system. Team Hedgehog Factory has been matched previously with teams from China and Mexico. The goal of Destination ImagiNation is to "inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders."
