Board Announces Preferred Candidate for Next Superintendent
The Orange City School District Board of Education announced today that it has identified Dr. Wendell “Lynn” Campbell as its preferred candidate for the next Superintendent of Schools pending successful completion of ongoing contract negotiations. The Board currently plans to officially take action on his hiring at its February 26, 2018 meeting. Dr. Campbell has spent 24 years in K-12 public education including seven years in his current position as the Principal of Kirtland High School.
Campbell stood out as the Board of Education’s lead candidate during its superintendent search for his leadership approach focused on quality instruction, relationship building and effective stakeholder communications. Dr. Campbell holds his Doctorate of Education from Youngstown State University. He earned both a Master of Education degree and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University. He will succeed Dr. Joffrey Jones who is the current interim superintendent. He and his family currently reside in Willoughby, Ohio.

The Board collected feedback from parents, community members, and District personnel to aid in the development of a profile that included key attributes, desired qualities and preferred characteristics of the new superintendent. This was done through public meetings, a series of focus group discussions, and an online survey. The Board interviewed its top candidates and chose three finalists who each visited the district for a day. The Board conducted final interviews following their visits and made their selection of Campbell.
