OHS Students Achieve National Merit Scholarship Recognition
OHS Students Achieve National Merit Scholarship RecognitionCongratulations to the seven Orange High School seniors who were recently recognized in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Student who earned semifinalist status will compete for 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered next spring. The semifinalists from Orange High School include (from left to right) Tyler Nelson, Truman Lester, Mi Row, Paige Resnick, Neil Agarwal and Christopher Jin. Tyler Nelson was also selected as a National Hispanic Scholar through the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). Tom Middleton was selected as a National Merit Commended student.

About 16,000 high school seniors across the country have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists in the 601st annual scholarship program, with more than 500 students in Ohio meeting the qualifications. About 1.5 million juniors from more than 22,000 high schools across the country entered the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
