Board Selects 2015 Officers, Approves Appointments
(Pepper Pike, OH) – January 13, 2013 - At its January 12, 2015 organizational meeting, the Orange Schools Board of Education approved the appointment of Mrs. Angela Wilkes and Mrs. Melanie Weltman as its President and Vice President, respectively.
Mrs. Wilkes joined the Board in 2012. She and her husband, Dr. Gary Wilkes, have lived in Pepper Pike since 1995. Their two sons graduated from Orange High School in 2003 and 2007. (Mrs. Wilkes bio)
Mrs. Weltman joined the Board in 2013. She has resided in the Orange School District for almost 37 years including the past 12 years with her husband Mr. Scott Weltman and their three children who all attend the Orange Schools. She is also an Orange High School graduate. (Mrs. Weltman's bio)
The Board also approved appointments to the 2015 District committees. Mr. Jeff Leikin and Mrs. Jennifer Cohen will serve on the Athletics Committee. Mrs. Cohen and Mrs. Weltman were appointed to the Building and Grounds Committee. Mrs. Wilkes and Mr. Leikin will serve on the Communications Committee. Mrs. Wilkes and Mrs. Dagmar Fellowes were appointed to the Policy Committee.
Approval was given to the regular meeting schedule for calendar year 2015. The meeting schedule is posted on the District website calendar.
Appointments to the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) were approved. Mrs. Wilkes will serve as a delegate at the OSBA annual conference with Mr. Leikin as an alternate. Mrs. Cohen will serve as a legislative liaison to OSBA while Mrs. Weltman serves as the student achievement liaison.

The Board of Education also re-adopted existing bylaws and policies. They set a Board Retreat for February 6, 2015 from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. to discuss Board goals, a cost per pupil analysis and policy issues.
