Gratitude abounded from the Veterans and students alike as they marched up to the podium one by one as part of the Brady Middle School annual Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony tradition.
As the students introduced each of the Veterans they had spent time getting to know in the previous few months, they expressed their gratitude for the Veterans' service and dedication to preserving democracy in America. And many of the Veterans welled up with tears as they showed their appreciation for the recognition by the students as well as the students' interest in the paths their lives had taken.
Veterans from World War II, the Vietnam and Korean wars, the Gulf War, and those who had served all around the world shared stories during the Elementary/Middle School PTA-sponsored breakfast and then had the opportunity to speak about their experiences at the podium. For many, this event served as the first "thank you" they had received and were humbled by the moving ceremony.

Elsewhere on campus, OHS students signed cards of gratitude to thank our Veterans for their years of service and dedication to freedom.
And Moreland Hills Elementary School students, dressed in red, white and blue heard from guest readers-- Soldiers and Veterans -- who shared stories about patriotism with them. They also collected coins again this year to help raise money for the Honor Flights that enable Veterans to visit their respective monuments in Washington, DC.
We thank all of our servicemen and women...
and all of our Veterans...
dedication and service to our country.
