OHS Students Lead White Ribbon Campaign by Positive Example
November 25, 2015
OHS Teacher Ship Collins, Assistant Principal Steve Hardaway and a group of OHS students involved in the Male Minority Leaders organization participated this past week in the White Ribbon Campaign downtown.

The White Ribbon Campaign encourages all to take a strong, positive, and public stance against violence towards women, significant others, and children. The Healthy Fathering Collaborative of Greater Cleveland and the Domestic Violence and Child Advocacy Center (DVCAC) encouraged all men to promote healthy, non-violent relationships by wearing a white tie or ribbon on November 20th to show their support for the cause. The DVCAC is a non-profit agency providing emergency services to victims of violence through a 24-hour hotline, crisis intervention, shelter, judicial advocacy, support groups, and community education. Mr. Collins and OHS students spoke at the public rally downtown in front of the gathered crowd. (To view the story as broadcast on WEWS-TV, click here.)

The Male Minority Leaders were commended by Board President Angela Wilkes and others for their efforts.

"I salute the Male Minority Leaders and their Advisor Mr. Ship Collins for their service to the Orange community," said Wilkes. "Through their efforts, students and the community are informed of the impact of domestic violence and resources for its eradication."
