MHS Students Help Veterans Via Honor Flight Cleveland Campaign
May 18, 2015
As Memorial Day approaches, the Orange Schools proudly salute and remember our military heroes. Earlier this year, Moreland Hills School students participated in a “Coins for Courage” program collecting all the loose change they could find in one day to raise money for Honor Flight Cleveland. The program enables World War II and Korean War veterans to fly to Washington, DC, all expenses paid, to see the memorials honoring their service and experience the camaraderie of those who served with them. Those flights are offered in May and throughout the year.

More than $2500 was collected by the students enabling 10 veterans to participate in the unique experience. The students also created more than 400 cards to accompany the veterans on the Honor Flights and developed honor chains that hung throughout the school. Teacher Rose Bradbourne, MHS students Jillian (center) and Jenna (right) Bradbourne and Assistant Principal Bryan McKenzie proudly present the check to Honor Flight Cleveland representative Janet Merrick who said they were honored by the wonderful human exchange between the veterans who spoke to the students and the young children who showed such appreciation for the service men and women.
