OHS Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Finalists!
Congratulations to OHS seniors Brian Margolis, Demi Zhang, and Evan Hsi (pictured left) who have been named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
About 1.4 million high school juniors entered the program by taking the Preliminary SAT. About 16,000 students were named Semifinalists in the fall. Finalists are selected from that group of students and only about 7600 win scholarships worth about $33 million from the National Merit organization, universities, and businesses in their senior year. All of the students who qualified for the competitions are among those who earned the highest scores on the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met other rigorous criteria.
In addition, OHS senior Alade Malik (pictured left) has been named a finalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, which recognizes outstanding Black American high school students. Malik is among approximately 1300 semifinalists nationwide who went on to qualify as a finalist in the competition.
Congratulations to all of our OHS students!
