Ballard Brady Middle School

The staff of Brady Middle School, a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, works cooperatively to make Brady a safe and nurturing environment with respect for individual diversity and a focus on the success of every student. The learning process is designed to be authentic and engaging so all students experience a sense of accomplishment in their endeavors for academic excellence. The building focus on "Working on the Work" results in lessons that stimulate and challenge students on a daily basis.

All Brady students receive instruction in the curricular areas of Language Arts/English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, with seventh and eighth graders able to choose between foreign language and literature classes. Special area selections abound, including Vocal and Instrumental Music, Art, Physical Education, Health, Speech & Communications, Drama, Discovering Technology, Keyboarding and Success Secrets. Special Education, ESL (English as a Second Language) and Gifted/Talented classes meet the needs of our diverse student body, offering support and challenge.

A wide variety of extra-curricular activities are available, including Interscholastic and Intramural Athletics, Student Council, Young Astronauts, Builders Club, Flute Choir, and School Newspaper. A very popular community event, the 7th/8th Grade Musical, is one of the highlights of the school year, as are the 6th Grade Outdoor Education Experience, the 7th Grade trip to Columbus and the 8th Grade Washington, DC trip.

Students and teachers work closely to create strong bonds. All students are assigned to teams of four teachers, each of whom is responsible for instruction in one subject area. Teachers create team identity and plan cooperatively to implement meaningful integrated learning experiences. All students meet daily in an advisory group of twelve students representing all grade levels. They remain with the same advisory group, providing a "home base" of support during their years at Brady.
