Congratulations to our BMS Power of the Pen Teams on an outstanding showing at the District Tournament this weekend!
Seventh-grader Joy Utech won eighth place and Gabe Feinberg placed eleventh out the nearly 80 seventh-grade writers at the tournament! Eighth-grader Remy Perry earned ninth place out of another 80 eighth grade competitors! Both the seventh- and eighth-grade teams won team trophies, placing an impressive third out of all of the 16 competing schools!

The seventh-grade team was comprised of Mira Batra, Gabe Feinberg, Maya Korland, Katie Lee, Nis Sen, and Joy Utech. The Brady eighth-grade team included Kymille Giles-Watkins, Kynnedi Giles-Watkins, Nathan Rice, Remy Perry, Ethan Vincent, and Anna Wolf -- with Ethan Jaffe and Ari Rubin attending as alternates.

Students were coached for the past several months by teachers and advisors Renee Borgione, Sarah DiBenedetto, Lee McClain, and Jenna Drozd.

Over the next few weeks, additional awards will be distributed as the master judges for Power of the Pen determine "Best of the Best" and "Best of Round" winners. The judges will also determine which writers will move on to the Regional Tournament in April and ultimately the State Tournament at College of Wooster in May. Good luck and way to go, Power of the Pen!
