Dear Orange Schools Families,
As a follow up to yesterday’s announcement by the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH), I am writing to inform you that the Orange City Schools will be fully remote for the first semester (end-date 12/18/20) of the 2020-2021 school year. During this time, we will vigilantly monitor data trends and recommendations from the CCBH, the Ohio Department of Health, and other agencies. Furthermore, we will monitor the Ohio Public Health Advisory System designations with hopes of our county de-escalating to Level 1 or 2 (yellow or orange, respectively).
Monitoring these data and information sources will allow us to reevaluate our status as the semester progresses. If data trends and guidance from the aforementioned public health entities support it, we may return to in-person blended learning and remote options. In the event we are able to transition out of full-remote learning, we will give at least two weeks of notice for families and staff to prepare. In the meantime, please still complete the registration form that is due today. This data will still be helpful as we make plans for our eventual return.
Finally, I regret to inform you that fall sports and related co/extracurricular activities (band, cheer, and Lionettes, etc.) are suspended per the CCBH recommendation. I appreciate how hard our athletes, participants, coaches and advisors have worked, and I wish them the best as they continue to apply the many lessons they have learned from these activities to their daily lives, especially during these trying times.
I know how tough all of this has been on our students and families. However, please know that we are dedicated to implementing a fully remote learning experience this coming semester that will keep our children engaged and on track. We are #TeamOrange, and we will get through this together.
