Orange Inclusive Preschool
The Orange Inclusive Preschool Program provides individualized attention to preschoolers. The program is specially designed for 3 - 5 year olds that includes half the class as typically developing peers and half as those identified with special needs. There are three half-day sessions that run four days a week. The morning session is specifically designed for three and early four year olds while the afternoon session is designed for four and five year olds. Curriculum begins with developmentally appropriate practices, incorporating specially planned, structured interventions and procedures designed to address children and their needs. The students identified with special needs demonstrate delays in one or more of the following areas: speech and language, cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, socialization, adaptive, and/or behavior/social/emotional growth.
Prospective typical peers must first participate in a screening session. Screenings are offered three times a year and may be scheduled by calling Melissa Lynch at 216-831-8600 x5605.
Family involvement is a key component of the program. Families are the primary educators of their children. Therefore, a continuing goal is to build and maintain a relationship between families and staff. Families have an opportunity to participate through classroom visits/activities, PTA, and conferences, newsletters and home visits.
Speech therapists, occupational therapists and physical therapist round out the program by providing small group and class work for both typically developing peers and those identified with special needs.
