Three OHS seniors were named Semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to OHS seniors Anjali Chepyala (left), Sam Dupont, and Brianne Lipton! Only 16-thousand high school seniors across the United States were named semifinalists out of the more than 1.3 million juniors in thousands of high schools across the country that initially enter the Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and by meeting published program entry/participation requirements.

Semi-finalists compete for the 7,250 scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be awarded in the spring. Those chosen for Semifinalist recognition are among the top scorers in the areas of critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills in the country. To be considered for selection as a Finalist, Semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.

Congratulations to all of our exceptional OHS students!
