Power of the Pen Success at Regionals, Onto States

Brady Middle School students (from left) Henry Miller, Madison Hopkins, Jaya Dixit, Olivia Kim and Adeline Moran have been invited to the State Power of the Pen Competition at Ashland University on May 17, 2024.

Last month, 7th and 8th graders in the Power of the Pen program had the opportunity to compete at the Regional Tournament in Shaker Heights. Seventh grader Kim took first place overall with Moran winning eighth place overall out of 83 writers. Kim also won Best of Round out of all 83 seventh grade writers in Round 3 for her piece entitled “Fear of Failure.” The seventh grade team finished fourth overall out of 43 teams earning an honorable mention. The eighth grade team also did exceptionally well, finishing second out of 33 teams with honors going to Hopkins (11th overall), Miller (16th overall), and Dixit (30th overall) out of 87 writers invited to the Regional Competition.
