Congratulations to OHS senior Mark Buckley, who has been named the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle “SENIOR OF THE MONTH” for November 2025. Mark’s outstanding achievements are evident not only in academics but in his pursuit of excellence in all of his endeavors.

A National Merit Commended student, Mark is an AP Scholar with Distinction and is on the Highest Honor Roll. In his junior year, he earned the Rochester Institute of Technology Humanities and Social Sciences Award for demonstrated interest and ability in the humanities and social sciences. Having earned top scores on seven AP exams, Mark has already completed humanities courses at Kent State University, including Greek and Roman classics, art history, and philosophy.

Mark is President and Media Manager of the award-winning OHS Mock Trial program, having been a State Finalist, State Semi-Finalist, and a 12-time recipient of the Outstanding Witness/Attorney awards. Through countless practices and competitions, Mark works to guide his peers through the challenges of competition, encouraging the members to find their unique voices as both an advocate and performer.

An active member of Amnesty International, Mark also serves as the Activity Adviser of the French Club and has been the Student Government Association Treasurer for three years.

Mark’s civic engagement extends beyond the school walls. He was a member of U.S. Representative Shontel Brown’s Youth Advisory Council, where he worked as a leader to present recommendations on overcoming educational disparities in Ohio and across the nation. Mark has also served as a poll worker in the last two November elections and was recognized by Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Representative Brown for his efforts.

Equestrian sports have been another defining pursuit in Mark’s life; through many years of training in both dressage and hunter riding, Mark noted he has acquired a deep sense of patience, discipline, and empathy.

Every school year, the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements. We thank the Kiwanis Club for its ongoing support and congratulate Mark Buckley as the November Senior of the Month!
