Sarah Korland Named Kiwanis Senior of the Month for December

Congratulations to OHS senior Sarah Korland, who has been named the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle “SENIOR OF THE MONTH” for December 2025. The old adage that goes “if you want something done, ask a busy person" is perfectly applicable to Sarah, who not only gets the job done but excels in every one of her endeavors.
The National Honor Society Secretary and Highest Honors student thrives in her academic studies, earning top scores on more than a handful of AP exams.
Sarah also flourishes in her multiple volunteer efforts. From partnering with special needs actors in the Orange Community Education & Recreation’s Broadway Buddies program to assisting with the annual Kiwanis Rummage Sale and serving as an alumni liaison during the Centennial Weekend, Sarah graciously jumps in wherever and whenever she is needed. She serves as the PR Representative and Manager for Glamour Gals, volunteering at retirement homes to showcase the beauty of the elderly. She also assists with the Stagecrafters Community Theater programs, assisting backstage and leading the children through teamwork and theater basics.
Sarah serves as Vice President of both the OHS Model UN and Mock Trial teams, garnering multiple top awards in both at local, regional, state, and national competitions. Most recently, she was the highest-scoring witness in the entire competition at the Kent State Black Squirrel Mock Trial Invitational. Sarah was selected as a participant in the 2024-25 Denmark Exchange Program as both a host and an exchange student.
Sarah’s kindness and positive spirit are contagious as a member of the Spirit Club and as a two-year Varsity Basketball Cheerleader. Her athletic prowess has served her well as Captain and four-year player on the OHS Varsity Softball Team. She has also been a four-year member of the Varsity Soccer Team and lettered each year in each of the sports. When not on the court or the field, you can find Sarah working with the Drama Club, Sports Broadcasting Club, and Fitness Club, among others.
A talented artist, Sarah’s skillset has been touted through her work as a Henna Artist, working at the Orange Artisan & Farmer’s Markets and other community events, always in high demand. She has also used this ability as an opportunity to teach the principles of owning and managing a business to dozens of young aspiring entrepreneurs. Her painting and drawing skills have been well documented through the Governors, National Scholastic, and Reflections art competitions at the state and national levels.
Every school year, the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements. We thank the Kiwanis Club for its ongoing support and congratulate Sarah Korland as the December Senior of the Month!
