Cafe 114 a Success!

Café 114 was open for business at Brady Middle School earlier this month. Students in teacher Ann Thome’s classes helped create the baked goods, stocked the counters, and served the drink and food items requested via a menu the students offered to BMS staff. The students created the cafe which enables them to work on their social and vocational skills. They prepare for the event by completing reading, math, art, and writing activities that are used to decorate the hallway. The students will wash and sort the "cozy” donations”, including new socks, gently used hats, gloves, sweatshirts, pants, and other items, which they plan to donate to the Share What Your Wear program. BMS Orchestra students provided background music to enhance the café atmosphere. Trader Joes donated coffee, while Orange parent Liz DeLauro provided cookies from her business "Presa Street Sourdough and Sweet Treats” for the students to decorate. The Orange PTA purchased a display case and work stations for the cafe.
