Orange Robotics Team Wins Finger Lakes Regional Competition

The Orange High School Robotics Team, The Flying Circuits, won the Finger Lakes Regional Competition in Rochester, NY earlier this month. It marks the 5th regional blue banner in team history. The OHS Team members and their robot Jeremy also won the Industrial Design Award. This victory means the team will be attending the FIRST International Championship in Houston, TX later this spring. The team included Sam Bartley, Seamus Buelow, Dima Dolgov, Duncan Ford, Bohdan Halas, Andras Karman, Ismael Masood, Nathan Miller, Alex Neuendorf, Adam Novik, Michael Roberts, Ryder Schwarz, Melanie Statsevych, Luke Terchek, Ishaan Tiwari, Amara Udeh, Rahul Vijayendran, JJ Walker, and Eliott Wright.
As underdogs, the team and its alliance partners fought their way through the playoff bracket to reach the best of three finals showdown. “The entire team worked incredibly hard to reach this moment and I’m extremely proud of the way they competed this weekend,” said OHS Robotics Club Advisor Ryan McMonigle. “There were plenty of learning moments about facing adversity and pushing through challenges even when the odds seemed stacked against them, and it was by far the most dramatic win I’ve experienced in my 15 years as the team advisor.”
