Orange Performs Well at OMEA Event

On March 13–14, four Orange High School ensembles traveled to Perry High School for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 7 Large Group Adjudicated Event. Each ensemble performed three prepared selections (one from a required list that determines difficulty class) for a panel of adjudicators. High school ensembles also completed a sight-reading evaluation, performing a piece they had not previously seen.
The Orange High School Choir attended OMEA for the first time, delivering a strong performance that earned it an Excellent (II) sight-reading score. Though they did not qualify for State, the program gained valuable experience.
The Orange Symphonic Band (Class C) and Orange Wind Ensemble (Class A) both earned Superior (I) overall ratings, qualifying both for the State event. It marks the fourth Superior in five years for the Symphonic Band and the fifth consecutive for the Wind Ensemble. Both groups will compete at North Royalton High School on April 24.
The Brady Middle School 8th Grade Band competed in Class A — the most difficult class for middle school bands — and swept all Superior (I) ratings for the third time in four years. They were also the only middle school band from east of Cleveland in District 7 to participate.
