Dr. Campbell’s Message From Tonight’s Board of Education Meeting (5/11/26)
May 11, 2026
Dear Orange Families,
Recently, a number of concerns have been expressed about an investigation related to an employee’s personal social media posts. While that investigation found no violation of District policies, it provided the opportunity for the District to review and consider professional development around social media, while also reaffirming the District’s stance against discrimination, harassment, intimidation and bullying in the school environment.
Currently, as a microcosm of our greater society, our District is feeling the impact of the complex conflicts in the Middle East, including recent escalation and its impact on the region. These geopolitical issues and the internal-external conflicts have created division in the school community. To address this, the District commits to:
Continue educating our students in a safe, collaborative environment
Reaffirming to uphold policies related to harassment, intimidation and bullying. It is important to know that students and staff are safe and protected under policies related to discrimination and harassment, including illegal harassment based on race, class and religion and other protected classes. While there have not been reports of mistreatment of others on campus related to the investigation, this is a commitment to students and staff of all ethnic and racial backgrounds
Continuing ongoing training for all staff related to harassment policies
Continuing training related to social media use and pertinent policies and Ohio professional conduct standards for educators
Continuing efforts with the Anti Defamation League (ADL) including our commitment to our No Place for Hate designated schools and to provide educational resources
Continue to address social-emotional learning (SEL) through MHS Guidance, BMS Pride and OHS Advisory
The safety of our students remains the top concern, so please speak up if they or someone else is encountering mistreatment, including harassment, intimidation or bullying at school or at school-related events. This can be via direct communication to the principal or any trusted adult in the schools, or via our Safe School Helpline.
In closing, I continue to proudly lead this diverse school district with so much to celebrate and cherish. We have faced many challenges over the years, and we have stood strong and endured, drawing closer together as Team Orange.
Sincerely,
Dr. Lynn Campbell
Superintendent
Orange Schools
